I have over 42 years experience working within the care sector. From starting my nursing training in 1982, then working as a staff nurse, charge nurse and then several senior management roles within the NHS. My nursing qualifications are in mental health nursing and learning disabilities. I also completed two degrees. a BSc in Health Studies and an Executive Masters of Business Administration (MBA)
In my various senior management roles, I have gained considerable experience of working with people, building teams and developing services that make a positive impact on people's lives. In particular helping to support people who are vulnerable. Which, I think at times we all are.
I have always had a keen interest in developing and making the most of what you have got. This was particularly important to me due to my past experience of working with people with learning and physical disabilities. This also included helping to support, develop and manage the staff team that were providing the care. More than ever since the Covid pandemic, we should recognise and appreciate the importance and positive contribution these care givers make to people's lives.
